VILAS COUNTY TRAILS ARE OPEN

WANT TO SNOWMOBILE IN VILAS COUNTY? WELL 8am TOMMOROW MORNING (FRIDAY17th) THE TRAILS SURROUNDING LAND O’ LAKES WILL BE OPEN. You read right, so pack your gear, load the sleds and head on up.

Mother Nature just wouldn’t cooperate last year, and this winter wasn’t looking much better until we started getting 1 inch of snow at a time. Sure, we have had the cold weather, but unfortunately, we never got the heavy wet snow needed for a good base (4 to 6 inches) on the trails. Be aware that the trail conditions are considered EARLY SEASON. The FROSTY SNOWMOBILE CLUB has been diligently working on the trails with what mother nature has given them, a big hand for everything they do.

As I mentioned above, the trails do not have a deep base and stopping could be an issue, so slow down, stay to the right side of the trail before entering and exiting corners. Also, if you have scratchers on your sled, wait until you are on lake ice before using them.  Enjoy opening day, but due to the thin base, show respect to the people that work so hard keeping the trails in great shape and take it easy. Also, remember, there are areas of the trail system that are on/or cross private land and these people allow us to ride over their land. Meaning, stay on the trails.

WE HAVE BEEN WAITING A LONG TIME FOR THE TRAILS TO OPEN, BUT PLEASE TAKE IT EASY SO THE TRAILS CAN REMAIN OPEN.
